Your voices were heard in Sacramento yesterday and the result? Sadly, the CA Commission on the Status of Women cancelled today's meeting where a vote would have taken place on a mission statement which eliminated "reproductive choice". Why didn't they hold the meeting and open the floor up as a feminist organization should and allow the public to make their voices heard? Perhaps part of the problem with the commission is that public input about agenda items before meetings is missing? Why not put off the vote but take the opportunity of the increased awareness and passionate responses to inform themselves about what CA women care about? Why the secrecy? Where is their funding coming from? With the increased stealth movement of anti-choice health care companies as well as anti-choice corporations pouring money into the state, CA women need to stay on top of the money trail and be skeptics when they are being shut out of a process. Removing "reproductive choice"? Ask yourselves, why?
