On Friday August 30th the Senate Appropriations Committee will meet to decide whether suspended bills make it to the Senate Floor.
We need your help to ensure the Legislature and the Governor take action to support California's Women and Girls.
Unfortunately as this year's legislative session has unfolded one thing is clear - Governor Brown doesn't value women. Another thing is also becoming clear, the Legislature is killing bills so Brown doesn't have a veto record. We need to know where he stands.
Decisions are made every single day about what the Legislature and the Governor value. By their actions the Legislature and the Governor still value traits and jobs labeled male over traits and jobs labeled female.
When we pay a plumber $100 an hour yet pay the person who cares for our children and our aging parents just $10 an hour, we're making a decision about what we value.
Think about that. why do they place greater value on the person who fixes our toilet over the person who cares for our children?
It's time for our work to be economically counted. It's time for California to enact a Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. it's time to repeal the maximum family Grant in CalWORKS. It's time to enact a rise in the minimum wage. It's time to afford collective bargaining to childcare workers. It's time for access and quality of women's health, including women's reproductive health to be a priority.
AB 241 (Ammiano) Domestic Workers Bill of Rights - NOW's the time to step up and let your voice be heard in support of Caifornia's 200,000 domestic workers. Let the Senate Appropriations Committee know you want AB 241 taken out of the suspense file, voted on and sent to the Governor for signature. Tell them its time for the Legislature and the Governor to stand up for women and the work that they do by equally valuing all care work. Call Pro-Tem Steinberg NOW 916-651-4006
AB 271 (Mitchell) Repeal of the Maximum Family Grant in CalWORKS. NOW's the time to step up and let your voice be heard in support of California's women and children. AB 411 (Pan) Medi-Cal Performance Measures. NOW's the time to step up and let your voice be heard in support of women's health quality measures. California NOW fought to ensure women were included in healthcare quality measures. Health care providers like Dignity Health were against the inclusion of women in health quality data collection. As soon as women were included AB 411 went into the suspense file. Tell the Senate Appropriations Committee that AB 411 needs to come out of the suspense file, voted on
and sent to the Governor for signature. Tell them its time for the Legislature and the Governor to stand up for women's health. Call Pro-Tem Steinberg NOW 916-651-4006
