This year marks the 39th anniversary of Roe v Wade! Unfortunately, almost four decades after the Supreme Court decided that abortion would be legal in this country, women are still having to fight for the right to make their own healthcare choices.
There were 8 Congressional votes last year against choice and here in California, there's an initiative being circulated for the 2012 ballot which would add a state constitutional ban on abortion for anyone under the age of 18 without parental consent. We're also dealing with crisis pregnancy centers and birth choice clinics popping up throughout California - even on our state's college campuses.
Because 2012 is going to be such an important year politically for women, I urge you to participate in this year's Roe v Wade rally in your community to ensure a clear message is sent to elected officials throughout our state that any attempt to legislate for substandard care to women will not be tolerated.
